Historical Background & Origin
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is one of the water-soluble vitamins. It is involved in numerous metabolic processes and is important for the proteins in the lens of the eye, among other things.Riboflavin is also known as the B2 vitamin or lactoflavin. It occurs naturally as a yellowish plant pigment and is only produced by plants and microorganisms.

Vitamin B2 is known by various names, the best known of which is riboflavin. The vitamin from the B complex is also sometimes referred to as lactoflavin. It also used to be called vitamin G, which is no longer used today. With regard to its effectiveness, it is also known as the “growth vitamin”. More on this later.
