History
Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is one of most precious and healthy fruits. Amla has many important constituents but the most important one is Vitamin C. Roughly, 225mg of Vitamin C can be obtained from 75g of Amla. Keeping in view the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) of Vitamin C, we can get almost double Vitamin C from 75g of Amla as per RDI. If we eat 2 normal sized oranges, we can get almost 200mg of Vitamin C (Kapoor 2018), It means we can get more Vitamin C in 75g of Amlain place of 2 oranges.. It can help to increase the red blood cell count and to promote good health. When we analyze the theoretical and experimental data to support the medical evidences, we found that amla fruit possess antioxidant (Bhattacharya, Chatterjee et al. 1999), hepatoprotective (Jeena, Joy et al. 1999), hypocholesterolemic (Jeena, Joy et al. 1999) and anti-inflammatory activities.
