Historical Background & Origin
The extract comes from grape seeds and the skins, which are usually a waste product from the pressing of grapes for wine production. However, since the French biologist and physician Jaques Masquelier was able to prove the high concentration of the antioxidant in 1995, the extract has been obtained from the seeds.
Kernels and shells are dried and processed into granules. This is ground into powder. High concentrations of OPC are produced using the extraction process with distilled water and alcohol (ethanol). These liquids are filtered several times, further concentrated and dried until the desired OPC content is obtained.
The production of grape seed extract or total grape extract is a multi-stage and complex extraction, concentration and purification process. Around 4166 kg of grapes are needed to produce one kilogram of total grape extract, and as much as 8333 kg for one kilogram of grape seed extract. To obtain 1 kg.
The extract is obtained without organic solvents or chemicals, so that a concentrated and unadulterated raw material is obtained.
Source of OPC (Oligonere Proanthocyanidine)
Grape seed extract contains OPC, an extremely helpful substance. OPC is an antioxidant plant substance and at the same time a specialist for very specific areas of the body. OPC has a particular effect on the skin, eyes, hair and immune system.OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins. These are plant substances from the group of polyphenols, which in turn belong to the secondary plant substances.
GRAPE SEED
As an antioxidant, grape seed extract binds free radicals with its active ingredient OPC, thus supporting the immune system in its defense against free radicals and counteracting oxidative stress and cell aging. OPCs are 50 times more effective than vitamin C.The active ingredient is best known for its antioxidant properties. The body is therefore better able to fight off oxidative stress with the help of OPC, which reduces cell and tissue damage and slows down the ageing of the skin caused by external influences. However, this property not only has a positive effect on our skin, but also on our eyesight.
